I am a Professional Accountant who specializes in income taxes and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) problem resolution. I prepared my first tax return manually when I was 16 years old. When I received my first paycheck, it was less than expected because of tax withholdings. I was determined to legally get that money back (plus I couldn’t afford a tax preparer), so I figured out how to prepare my tax return. I took the Federal Tax course in college, and I was fascinated by all of the ways that taxes affected how much of your earned income you are able to keep. “It’s not how much you make; it’s how much you keep.”

I am the former Income Tax Administrator for the District of Columbia Government’s Department of Finance and Revenue. In that role, I worked with the IRS to enhance tax policy and information technology to improve the information sharing agreement with D.C. Government and the IRS. I am fully aware of audit triggers and refund enhancement techniques.

I am an income tax expert. I founded Certified Tax Accountants in 2006 as a sole proprietor. The company was incorporated as Financial Accounting and Tax Incorporated in 2011. My superpower as a tax professional is the use of the “accrual basis of accounting method” when preparing business taxes to minimize the tax liability. I have clients in Texas, Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, and Arizona.

I have two adult children. My daughter is a doctor, and my son is a Mortgage Analyst. My hobbies include swing dancing, walking, writing and I travel domestically and abroad. I am a published author of the book ‘Corporations’ Responsibility to Society’. The subtitled is ‘Patriotism over Profits.’ The book is available on Amazon and Kindle. I am an etymologist who studies history and the history of words.
